Liverpool Culture Campus has now been in operation for two years, during which time the cultural landscape in the city has changed rapidly and profoundly. In particular, the major arts organisations have made great progress in acting collaboratively to develop audiences and influence the wider environment.
The early successes of Liverpool Culture Campus were led by a partnership between specifically Visual Arts organisations and two of the Universities, resulting in particular in the founding of new courses, a magazine, internships, and the website. The only significant organisation with a similar ambition in the UK is LCACE (the 8 London higher education institutions) and we have been able to learn lessons from their parallel development over the last two years.
The Board of Culture Campus continues to have great confidence in the Company's vision of encouraging graduate retention through providing support for post graduates and incubator creatives, and wishes to build on its success by expanding the reach of its ambition and the scale of its activity.
With this in mind, it has taken steps to position the Company as an interface between
LARC (Liverpool Arts and Regeneration Consortium, representing the 8 largest arts organisations of the City) and Liverpool City of Learning (a partnership between the three universities in the city – University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University.
From the perspective of LARC organisations, it will be able to offer a pathway for postgraduate development that is equivalent to "Find your Talent" and "Creative Apprenticeships" for these other key groups. From the perspective of the universities,
it offers a specialist support network for arts graduates, promoting excellence and the highest level of professional development drawing on the distinct and unique cultural expertise in the city.
