FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is the UK's leading organisation for commissioning, exhibiting, promoting and supporting artists™ work and innovation in the fields of film, video, and new media. Housed in the iconic FACT building in the historic Ropewalks area of Liverpool; two galleries, a Media Lounge and state-of-the-art cinemas invite visitors to experience a range of FACT activities from exhibitions and live webcasts, to screenings and thought-provoking symposiums and conferences.

FACT delivers its artistic policies and objectives through three creative programmes based around art technology and people. We work with international artists to develop exhibitions, develop knowledge about new technologies and to create new commissions with people living and working in Liverpool.

The Exhibition Programme: commissions new work, develops projects, presentations and initiatives which are presented in FACT galleries and Media Lounge, as well as with partner organisations in the UK and abroad.

The Collaboration Programme aims to produce and present new works of artistic significance and social benefit, which engage participants as producers rather than consumers of the moving image and new media, creating new forms of collective learning and expression.

The Structural Programme supports and develops the national infrastructure for artists and exhibitors working with video and new and emerging media forms, through MITES (Moving Image Touring & Exhibition Service). MITES offers advice and access to subsidised resources, DVD authoring and digital videotape archiving, as well as the New Tools arts training and development programme.

FACT is embedded and participates in the creative and broad cultural life of Liverpool through commissions, exhibitions, screening programmes, education, public events, training and collaborations with people living and working on Merseyside. By nurturing creativity and talent, the organisation provides a wide range of opportunities for personal and professional development. FACT has played a leading role in establishing and developing Culture Campus, in order to help graduates in Liverpool extend their professional experience and careers in contemporary arts and culture.

Opportunities include:

  • Career advice, networking and discussions with FACT staff, visiting curators and local, national and international artists at public events such as webcasts and conferences
  • Training in new tools by leading artists and technologists
  • A small number of internships throughout the year
  • Jobs: in our team of Gallery Assistants - who are often talented artists, film makers, students and recent graduates working behind the scenes of the gallery - we currently employ 12 recent graduates from Liverpool universities
