
Information from ‘CPD and the Cultural Sector in the Liverpool City region’ Continuing Professional Development Seminar, 27 April 2010 at the Bluecoat, Liverpool
The ‘CPD and the Cultural Sector in the Liverpool City region’ Continuing Professional Development Seminar took place to explore what is sought, what is available from the three universities and consider how opportunities and future developments may be optimised, for the longer term benefit for all.
Graduate retention and progression across the cultural field in the Liverpool City region was one of the driving forces behind the creation of Culture Campus Liverpool. The provision of relevant and accessible continuing professional development - any process or activity that provides added value to the capability of the professional through the increase in knowledge, skills and personal qualities necessary for appropriate professional practice - is seen as central to this.

Kerry Wilson, Cultural Leadership, Liverpool John Moores University spoke about the CPD Needs Study which she is leading on:
Culture Campus and LARC, with support from NWDA are engaged in a CPD Needs Study of the sector locally.

- The Automatic™: LJMU’s innovation lab, provides custom designed facilitated experiences for clients. It utilises creative methods, such as landscaping, metaphors, LEGO, photography plus unique technology, such as The Distiller, a means of contributing ideas anonymously via individual keyboards and building giant, collective mind maps, to generate positive outcomes.
- The Postgraduate Certificate in Business Turnaround Management: a unique course for people who want to support businesses that are failing or in crisis or want the skills to ‘turnaround’ their own business. A collaborative venture between LJMU and Blenheim Associates LLP, a leading business turnaround consultancy, the course combines academic rigour and a commercial focus.
